Hey guys, does anyone know of a bar/ or restaurant that serves hot hard cider in the metropolitan area? I've in VA but work in DC so I'm open to suggestions. :)

Are there any other good Indian restaurants in the downtown Silver Spring area other than Bombay Gaylord? washingtonpost.com and washingtonian are being mostly unhelpful (the post doesn't even list bombay gaylord). Suggestions? I'd prefer to do take out in that area so that it can easily be brought to a friends house.
We went to Bombay Gaylord a few weeks ago and would like to try somewhere else. If there isn't somewhere else, we'll just go back to Bombay Gaylord.

Just moved to the DC area (McLean, VA) and we had found a great burger place called the Child Herald in Dupont Circle when we visited before. Unfortunately it has closed and we are without a favorite burger place. We've been trying places but none of them measure up to the "great burger joint" standards.

What are your suggestions? What are your favorite places to get a burger? I know there must be more than one great burger in the DC area.....

My husband and I are both turning 30 this August, and want to go out for a fabulous dinner to celebrate! Can anyone recommend a fabulous place to go to celebrate a milestone birthday? We love pretty much all kinds of food, especially Asian and French.

Security:Public

So I'm suffering through a horrid head cold. As such I am looking for the amazing curative properties of good old Vietnamese Pho. I have NO idea where to get pho within the district. I need pho, to go. My boyfriend is bringing it home to me if it can be found anywhere int he area of Thomas/Scott/Logan circle area is a bonus, but anywhere in the district is possible at this point!
Thanks in advance, lets hope this works like I want it to!

I'm looking for a restaurant.

Something that my boyfriend and I wouldn't look out of place dressed up a bit, but not jacket required.

Really good food and good service but not exorbitantly expensive.

Variety on the menu.

Not a chain.

I like all kinds of food, exotic -- I'm kindof a foodie

My boyfriend is more steak and potatos kind of guy.

I like wine, he likes beer.

I know that I'm not really specific, but that's all I have.

Okay - I plan my birthday every year (started the trend :)) and want to think of a good place to have people join me for dinner. The dinner is where I want to be super inclusive since most people will come to that. Others who are early birds will turn in after.

So! That being said, I would like to go to a place that's friendly to vegetarians and large parties (I went to an Indian restaurant last year, and would like to have a different cuisine this year).

Any help would be great!

Subject:Ethiopian food - restricted diet
Security:Public

I'd like to try Ethiopian food before I move away from the DC area (hopefully the end of this summer). Problem is that I eat a gluten free diet, which can be hard to get across to someone who doesn't understand English well. Add in the fact that I don't know much about Ethiopian food, and I wouldn't know what the hell I was ordering or that what I've ordered is safe for me to eat.
Of the Ethiopian restaurants in DC, which would you recommend for someone both new to Ethiopian food and on a limited diet?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to take my girlfriend to a romantic dinner for her birthday and wanted to find an Italian or French place.

Other than Filomena's, any recommendations?

Or if there are other romantic places not Italian or French, please share.

Thanks!

Subject:I'd kill a man for good buffalo wings.
Security:Public

Since coming to the DC metro area, I have not had good buffalo wings. And this is a shame, because I love good buffalo wings. Can anyone recommend places in the area (first person to say Cluck U gets beaten). There must be somewhere in this town that actually crisps their wings and coats them with a tasty, spicy sauce. I'm desperate at this point, and since I am willing to drive to Baltimore for good wings, I'll drive fairly far out in this area.

In a spectacularly unhelpful and irritating move, the P Street Whole Foods has stopped carrying spices in bulk.

Anybody have suggestions for an alternate source in the area?

Hello, I'm a transplanted local girl, and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find "some local kind grinz."  I'm specifically looking for a place that does plate lunch: kalua pork, lomi lomi salmon, lau lau....that sort of thing.  Know of any?

Cafe Asia? (in Arlington)
Is it is as good as it sounds? A friend and I will be in Rosslyn Sunday to go to the Bodies Exhibit at The Dome. I want SUSHI! Or is there somewhere better real close by to there?

I'm craving some chicory coffee something fierce. I'm sure I can find some Cafe Du Monde chicory cofee at some or other supermarket, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a French or New Orleans cafe/restaurant that might serve it up round these parts.

Thanks!

I'm going to be close to Ellicott City one night next week and wanted to know if you have any restaurant recommendations in the moderately-priced category.  I've never been there before.  Is it worth the visit?
